SUMMARY:Government by the People: Manuscript Vermont State Papers
LOCATION:Zoom
DESCRIPTION:10:15–11:30 am   Instructor: Desmarais\nWhat stories might y
ou uncover about your New England ancestors interacting with Vermont’s e
arly government? Certainly far fewer\, if archivist Mary Greene Nye hadnâ€
™t typed every one of their names onto an index card. We’ll learn about
the richness of these indexed documents\, mostly from the 1760s to 1860s\,
and how to access them. They may place your ancestors in a specific Vermo
nt location\, document patriotic or military service\, name the poor not t
axed or enumerated by name in censuses\, and reveal otherwise undocumented
details of their lives.\n\n---\n\nGovernment by the People: Manuscript Ve
