The Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy Congratulates Laurianne Schell as the 2026 Laura G. Prescott Scholarship Recipient!

Born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, Laurianne earned a BFA in Design from the University of Lethbridge and is currently the document control and project support services administrator for a technology firm in Calgary. She has written and self-published several family history books over the past 25 years, all pro bono. In 2025, she submitted a preliminary application to the Board for Certification of Genealogists and is deepening her genealogical education with greater drive and determination.
“I am very honoured to be selected as the recipient of the Laura Prescott SLIG Scholarship! I am looking forward to taking the course ‘Bring ‘Em Back Again: Advanced Workshop for Writing Our Ancestors’ Stories,’ held in Spring 2027.”
About the Scholarship:
Laura G. Prescott’s bright smile, gracious friendship, and positive attitude, and many contributions as a teacher, writer, researcher, mentor, society leader, APG president, and director of Ancestry Academy made a significant mark on the genealogical community. In recognition of her friendship to all, her professional accomplishments, and her passion for genealogical education, the genealogical community established the Laura G. Prescott SLIG Scholarship.
