Have you been staring at the same genealogical problem for months without making progress? Do you face challenging research questions that require expert guidance and dedicated time to review the records thoroughly? Could you have a genealogy expert personally mentor you through your most difficult problems while providing focused time to comb through the exact record sets that hold your answers?
A Revolutionary Approach to Family History
Welcome to “Guided Research and Consultation” – a unique course that provides attendees with the opportunity to consult with Craig and other course members on challenging genealogical problems you are currently working on, combining expert mentoring with dedicated research time to solve your most challenging brick walls.
This intensive course offers something most genealogy education cannot: personalized guidance paired with uninterrupted research time. You’ll meet once daily for consultation and mentoring, then spend the rest of each day independently researching with Craig’s expert guidance, directing you to the correct records and resources.
What Makes This Course Unique
Rather than sitting through lectures on topics that may not apply to your specific challenges, you’ll receive targeted mentoring and dedicated research time through this hands-on approach:
- Personal Problem-Solving: Work directly on your genealogical challenges with expert guidance rather than theoretical examples
- Expert Mentoring: Craig shares his expertise to guide you to the correct records and resources for your specific research problems
- Dedicated Research Time: Spend focused time combing through record sets like deeds, probates, and tax records that may hold your breakthrough
Do you have a stubborn ancestor who seems to have vanished from the records? Through personalized consultation and guided research, you’ll learn which record sets to prioritize, how to approach complex problems systematically, and gain the focused time needed to work through detailed record analysis.
You’ll become empowered to tackle complex problems independently while having expert support when you need it most. This isn’t about learning general techniques—it’s about solving your specific genealogical mysteries.
Meet Your Expert Instructor
Craig Roberts Scott, MA, CG®, FUGA, is President and CEO of Heritage Books, Inc., a genealogical publishing firm with over 9,500 titles in print, and has been a professional genealogical researcher for more than thirty years. He specializes in military records, problem-solving, and Quaker research, and has authored seventeen books, including The ‘Lost Pensions’ and Understanding Revolutionary War and Invalid Pension Ledgers. As current Coordinator of the SLIG Guided Research and Consultation Track, Craig helps students solve their brick wall problems and received the Grahame T. Smallwood, Jr. Award for his contributions to professional genealogy.
Note: Craig suggests bringing 2-3 research projects because it’s possible to solve a problem in one day, or run into situations where records aren’t online or don’t exist
